He inclined to me and heard my cry
[1] I
waited patiently for the LORD; he inclined to me and heard my cry.
[2] He
drew me up from the pit of destruction, out of the miry bog, and set my feet
upon a rock, making my steps secure.
[3] (a )He put a new song in my mouth, a song of
praise to our God. (b)Many will see and fear, and put their trust in the LORD.
(Psalm
40:1-3 ESV)
Introduction:
In this Verse, King
David here relates that he had been delivered not only from Danger, but also
from present death (eternal death). The story of this is like David comprehend
multitude of trials which he had escaped. He have been into the deepest problem
and sunk in the miry clay. Nevertheless, his faith still continued with
patience and perseverance.
It’s like you are playing in the mud and realize
sobra dumi mo nah….tapos gusto mo nang mang hugas, pero kulang lng yong tubig.
Kailangan mo ng detergent, pero kulang parin.. Kailangan tlga ng e babad ng
mabuti.
David was sunk in
mud., was stuck in mud – He was in deep trials. He was crying for help. He want
to move, but it says in V1 he waited
patiently.
But God, gave him a
heart of perseverance, gave him a patience heart and strength and endure the
trial.
Preposition: Since God is giving us strength to endure the
circumstances we are facing every day. We should always have patience heart,
trust, have faith and praise him all the time.
FCF: The truth is that life is filled with significantly difficult
circumstances that test our patience, many of which some of you are
experiencing today: illness, depression, overbearing boss, financial problem,
tired of routinely life, etc. Christians shouldn’t be surprised at the presence
of difficult circumstances throughout life. For example, consider what James
the brother of Jesus once wrote (James 1:2): “My brethren, count it all joy
when you fall into various trials.” James didn’t write if, but when, as if to
indicate with absolute certainty that if you are a Christian, you should expect
to periodically (or perhaps even regularly) experience some form of trial or
difficult circumstance that requires the exercise of patience.
Explanation:
3 He put a new song
in my mouth, a song of praise to our God - With this circumstances ,
this is the time that you need God. In this situation, this is a song of your
soul to praise more to God.
David here was rescued by God, v2 God helped
him – like us, we were cleansed and washed from the dirty mud. We are cleaned
by HIS word. Having understanding with His words. Our response is we are happy
to our lungs out. We are rejoicing.
My connection with this to our ministry is
that, God day by day is cleansing our hearts. We just need to soak more his
words, to easily remove the dirt in us. Let us all declare a new song to our
mouth. (Praise him more)
(b) Showing to other how God changed us, so
other will follow us and put their trust in the Lord also.
We need to pray on a daily basis for God to help
us see our work, actions, speech, thoughts, and circumstances in light of God's
glory and not our own.
Conclusion:
Why should we Practice Patience?
With patience heart is equal to trusting the Lord.
Psalm 40:17 - Humble yourself and acknowledge your need! Remember
your personal relationship with God through Jesus!
Psalm
40:3 reveals that a new song plays a significant role in expressing a fresh
response of worship to God based on His gracious acts in our lives today.
